I am so excited about a new book with a chapter on Sita that is to be published by Christmas time. On the left is the picture of her. It is called "Two Guardian Angels" and is the story about how my mother wanted me to get a hearing ear dog. I received Sita a year before she passed away and now I have two guardian angels - my mother and Sita! The book is called Writers for Animals and is truly international. There will be stories from Sri Lanka, France, Great Britain and several other countries. The book is being edited by a great lady named Jenny Elliott-Bennett in Great Britain. I will keep you all posted!!!
I have a Bachelor's degree in English from Heidelberg University and Master's degree in Library Science from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. I obtained another Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Doctorate in Counseling and Human Services from Kent State University. I worked as a librarian for 19 years and with the Rehabilitation Services Commission with persons with disabilities for 11 years. I then worked in a private practice called Northeast Ohio Behavioral Health for 7 years. I found my true passion was teaching and writing. I have taught part time at Walsh University, Kent State University and am now at Stark State College. Presently I am teaching Deaf Culture and Introduction to Interpreting at Stark State and am immersed in several writing projects. I also visit schools, libraries, and other organizations with Sita educating people about assistance dogs. I love working at Stark State and being in an exciting place with phenomenal growth. I was overwhelmed when I was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2012! I will keep all of you posted on my writing activities in my blog.
